As someone not yet born when JFK died, but who has amassed a good sized
library on the topic in the past 12 years or so, I find myself checking into
this newsgroup every so often, and I have to say I find it extraordinarily
depressing.
The question that immediately comes to mind is: why don't these two (CT &
LN) just get divorced already? Are they staying together for the sake of the
kid? That kid is gonna turn out more messed up than Lee Harvey.
Since the LN folks have their answer, their only apparent interest in
this case is in those who (in one form or another) aren't satisfied with the
government's answer. So in reality, the LNers haven't really been interested
in JFK's murder since about 10 hours after it occurred. Their main stake in
all of this is in going after CTs. You gotta wonder about that. You just
gotta.
OK, now in some cases it's warranted. Some CTs are crazy. They post
links to pages with blow-ups of the knoll, upon which we are supposed to see
Badgeman, Lex Luthor, and both the black and white spies from MAD's 'Spy vs.
Spy.'
On the other hand, there are good questions to be asked still about this,
and I've seen them asked by people like Peter and Barb. I just read two great
articles by Gary Aguilar and Wallace Milam which I found through this group.
What do LNers reply with? "Prove something to me!" Cripes! You guys
are just brutal, flat-out brutal. No one has to prove anything to you. People
are entitled to keep looking, and you need to ask yourself why their doing so
makes you so angry.
I'm sorry! The FBI's interview of Banister doesn't satisfy me that
Banister didn't know LHO! Forgive me!! But I'm an adult. I'm prepared to
accept the idea that I may never reach a conclusion that makes sense to me. If
you guys have, great. I'm happy for you. I'm not, however, envious in the
slightest.
Even if the only difference in the WC and truth turns out to be that LHO
actually liked Coke more than Dr. Pepper, I'll still be looking *forward* for
new info, wondering from time to time if any LNer is going to raise hell and
demand that JFK's chest photos and xrays be made public.
So thanks for sitting through all that blather. The real point of this
post was to suggest that CTs and/or TS' simply start their own newsgroup, but I
never got to it. Woops.

Did it ever occur to you that we simply like arguing about the JFK

When you consider the important of the event, the shooting of an American
president, you have to understand why those who believe that he was
assassinated as a result of a conspiracy feel strongly about the subject.
This especially true of those who think the very government that president
represented was instrumental in covering up the truth of the
assassination.
Having said that - I *actually* believe that this "Who Killed Kennedy"
debate has turned into a parlor game, of sorts. Like the game of Clue!
Colonel Mustard did it with the candle stick in the conservatory. It's
often nothing more than intellectual titialation or a high school debate
match.
Since the LN folks have their answer, their only apparent interest in

Some people are historical purists. They find it repugnant that the
legacy of the Kennedy assassination is being polluted by a vast group of
conspiracy theorists who, in all likelihood, deep down, don't even believe
in the very theories they advocate. Even Oliver Stone described his
movie, "JFK", as a "counter my h." So even *he* doesn't believe all the
things that he portrayed in his movie. Yet, most young, impressionable
Americans, viewed that movie as if it was a documentary.
So the LN's, as you call them, have an agenda of setting the record
straight for history.

I do, and my original post was basically a defense of the CT position, if
for no other reason than it involves an open attitude toward any new
developments.
I believe that simply on the face of it, a reasonable and fair minded
person *can* look at this case and come away feeling as if something was hidden
or misreported about it, either through deliberate or bureaucratic means.
*If* you agree with that premise (whether it applies to you personally or
not), then in my estimation you're a million pegs up on the food chain from the
most vociferous LN advocates here, who have threads with names like "CTs have
QUESTIONS, LNs have EVIDENCE," as if this was a race to the finish line or
something.
Also, in a non-confrontational LN move that puzzled me, a LNer here
posted a question about the story behind the recently publicized photo of Jack
Ruby and Malcolm Liggett.
Though I very sincerely do not intend to be mean about this, my gut
reaction was, "Why do you care?" Certainly everything needed to refute *any*
even remotely conspiratorial development from here to the end of time is
already contained in the govt's body of work, so really, what *difference*
should it make where the Ruby/Liggett photo came from, or what it means?
conspiracy theorists who, in all likelihood, deep down, don't even believe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a shame you feel that way. I take it that the CTs' unwillingness
to post an actual theory complete with names and places has translated into a
LN belief (not necessarily yours) that they don't have one, and are just here
to cause trouble or be anti-American.
I wouldn't speak for Stone or the CTs here, but I would venture to say
that the fact they have serious doubts which are real and important to them,
which the other side does not even validate as such, must be a major source of
annoyance to them.
So the LN's, as you call them, have an agenda of setting the record
straight for history.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, in this respect LN's resemble CT's in that they've taken up a cause
which will likely never give them a satisfactory result. The public opinion
battle is lost, but I think they've achieved a slight edge in the media battle!
Sadly, this probably describes the bulk of CT's. There are a few out
there who are fairly responsible researchers and are not too quick to
embrace every conspiratorial thought. But they are in the minority.

Thanks for responding, Clark.
CTer's....test their ideas here on LNer's who will quickly point out their
mistakes. We learn from our mistakes and try again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree that this needs to be done. However, there is no reason why any CT
or JFK agnostic--provided they remain open minded--shouldn't be able to do
this, for the simple fact that everyone here is up-to-date with the
government's case (whether they accept it or not).
If one had a theory on something, that person would merely need to
reference the WC or Lattimer or Posner, etc. to immediately find out what the
LN response will be, and it would save the moderators time.
They (LNs) may be ultimately proven right
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes they may! It may sound stupid, but THANK YOU for saying that!
Although it never seems to occur to any of them that LHO can be the only
shooter and still be part of a conspiracy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks again, but I may be pushing my luck if I asked for any LN to accept
this possibility (and some CTs for that matter).
Sure there is, Ed. There's the evidence he DIDN'T bring the rifle into the
TSBD.
Don't be modest, Ed.
You're the one who proved it 31 different ways. Take credit for your CT
work! Look at how it has the LNer's running!
